
GAGLIARDI
LUIGI
Luigi Gagliardi, musician and yoga teacher, has taught acoustic and electric guitar, electric bass, ensemble music, music theory and arrangement at the Lizard school of Fiesole (FI) and the music school of Sesto Fiorentino (FI).
He held a course in modern harmony and improvisation on the guitar at the Mascagni Conservatory in Livorno.
He has published for the Bèrben publishing house, together with his colleague Paolo Amulfi, "The rhythmic guitar (jazz, rock, blues)", and has collaborated with specialized magazines (Chitarre and Guitar Club).
He has played in various groups including the guitar quartet "GUITAR CONSORT", the ethno-Celtic music group "De Pookan", the flamenco group EL TABLAO and the guitar orchestra "GUITAR SYMPHONIETTA", directed by Maestro Leo Brouwer, with whom he played for RAI and participated in the creation of a CD for the Giulia label.
Self-taught composer and arranger, he perfected himself in the composition courses of Leo Brouwer and also won a scholarship (subsidized by the EEC and the Umbria Region) to participate in a "Course for Arrangers" organized by the CET (European Center of Toscolano) of Mogol graduating with honors. He carries out constant seminar activities relating to the teaching of acoustic and electric guitar, singing and modern music in general.
He taught acoustic guitar and electric guitar at the "Giuseppe Verdi" municipal school of music in Prato and currently teaches acoustic and electric guitar, electric bass and singing at the Blue Note school in Campi Bisenzio (FI) e the Florentine Academy MusicArea of Florence.


He has been interested in yoga for more than forty years and follows the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda as a member of the Self-Realization Fellowship. He has been a kriyaban since 1987.
He graduated as a Hatha Yoga instructor at the Carlo Patrian Yoga Institute in Milan. He specialized in the Himalayan tradition at the Himalayan Yoga Institute in Florence (where he currently teaches Yoga and Nada Yoga) obtaining the diploma of "Yoga and Meditation Teacher in the Himalayan tradition".
He has conducted courses related to the teaching of yoga (also combining it with music) at various centers (Energylab, Amorovi, Vivarium, Himalayan Yoga Institute, Duchenne Institute, Shoto Isshinkai).
He has written a "Manual of Devotional Chanting and Mantra Practice" with accompanying CD (Flying in the Light of Om) of original compositions for guitar and voice in the style of Indian devotional singing.
He taught at the project "Il polo plays rock" at the "Marco Polo" school in Prato and is part of the SURYANANDA QUARTET (of which he is the founder) as a singer and guitarist and of the guitar duo FLAMINGO ROAD with his colleague Gianni Zei.
He has been collaborating for several years with David Joyce, a versatile musician from the Los Angeles area and current keyboardist for Burt Bacharach.
In 2013 his book/cd “Who wants to be happy is. Tuscany, a tale in music”.
He actively collaborates with the Toscana Folk magazine.
He participated in Bruno Tommaso's "Arrangement for big band jazz" course at Barga Jazz in 2014 and his song "Circular rainbows" was played by the Barga big band.
He studied as a sound engineer at the Blue Note School in Campi Bisenzio (FI) with Antonio Dimilta and at the All Music School in Florence with Filippo Gabbrielli.
As a sound engineer, he recorded the CD "Jesu dulcis amor meus" by the Gregorian choir Viri Galilaei of the church of San Miniato al Monte in Florence produced by Ema Vinci L&C.
In August 2019 he took part in Todi in the conducting course of Maestro Fabrizio Dorsi.
In 2022 he formed the Instant Karma Duo together with the flautist Laura Manescalchi with whom he collaborates as a guitarist and singer.
He is also the founder and artistic director of the Tuscan Institute for Music and Art and collaborates as musical director with the Arcoiris association.

He participated, together with Alessandro Bencistà, in the 26th National Competition "Giovanna Daffini" 2022, winning the 1st Prize in the Special Section "Storytellers in memory of Pier Paolo Pasolini on the centenary of his birth" with the text "Pier Paolo" (words by Alessandro Bencistà, music by Luigi Gagliardi): composition of "exquisite sensitivity that pays an authoritative tribute to Pasolini's world" (http://www.quellodelcantastorie.it/risultati-del-concorso-giovanna-daffini-2022.html).
He participated in the "Annual Training Course in Music Therapy Nada Yoga and Overtone Singing" at the School of Music Therapy of Riccardo Misto, successfully obtaining the Certificate of qualification to perform the required techniques.
At the same school he obtained the Specialization Diploma in Personal Tonic Note Detection.
